Do you know what’s funny? Seeing people try Vegemite for the first time in their lives. The face they make is precious. I especially like the ones from people who want to try a whole spoon, like it’s Nutella – PRECIOUS.
I guess my facial expression wasn’t that much better. The savoury, malty flavour is unique. At first it’s strange, but eventually I started liking it, very much.
It’s right up my alley. My favourite combination must be the classic avocado toast.
But lately I’ve been playing around with flavours and ingredients. Just like Vegemite sticks.
It’s one of the easiest recipes you could make.
But the crunchy sticks are so good and a great snack alternative to your regular crisps. The parmesan cheese brings it together and the rosemary adds a special taste.
I love to eat the sticks with a simple salad or a nice hot sauce like Habanero.
Even though I wouldn’t combine it with other heavy flavoured sauces, because the Vegemite is quite intense. But a little bit of spice is fine. Try it!
I remember vividly the first time I tried Vegemite. We’ve been on a camping trip in Western Australia. It was dinner time and the Australian friends of my bestie brought it with them. She spread it on a warm slice of toast and passed it to me. (Insert precious facial expression), but I was hooked and wanted more. And of course I brought a jar with me to Germany. Luckily! Otherwise I couldn’t share this recipe with you, mates.
